MY FAMILY ROOTS ARE FROM JURGOW. I SENT TWO LETTERS TO THE VILLAGE, ONE TO THE MAYOR, AND ONE TO THE HOUSE WHERE MY GRANDMOTHER LIVED WITH HOPES, FAMILY IS STILL THERE. ITS BEEN THREE MONTHS, NO RESPONSE. IS THERE A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE OF THIS VILLAGE WOULD LIST A FAMILY POSTING FOR FAMILY THAT IMMIGRATED, LIKE ON A WEBSITE? I KNOW ABOUT MYTARG.ORG. ARE THERE MANY COMPUTERS IN THIS VILLAGE, OR A PLACE WHERE THE PEOPLE COULD GET ACCESS TO A COMPUTER? I KNOW THE BIGGER CITIES HAVE CYBER CAFE'S, BUT THIS VILLAGE IS VERY SMALL. ANY INSIGHT WOULD BE GREAT.

He, where are you from? (U.K or U.S.A) I'm not a Miskovic, but there is a some families which 've the same last name like you. I suppose it' s even very popular in this region. You are right Jurgow is small village but everybody have a computers and many people are on-line, so Jurgow is likes a 'cyber-village' ;-) If you use a Skype or Gadu-Gadu you would find somebody whose name is Miskovic correctly 'Miśkowicz'. Mayby your family don't know English, this would be a reason why you wait so long for a response.
I don't know why the Mayor is so silent, he should have the newest information, he works to slowly in this cause/case/business;-)(I don't know which words would be the best?). Try again and good luck!!!

Lucjan, how it finally ended up?
Btw there was a remarkable person, catholic priest and professor of teology here in Slovakia with the name Miškovič (he was of course born in Jurgov) and I was lucky to serve as an altar boy in Spišská Belá when he came to visit our region. But it's many many years ago...

Case is still in progres I have no idea if there was an answer to the letter of requestor but I do not have time to go an chceck thinks. If it will be possible I will do it. I spent most of my time outside the Jurgowe and have to plan such visits earlier.

HI LUCJAN, YOU HAD POSTED A REQUEST TO SEE IF I HAD A RESPONSE IN MY FAMILY SEARCH. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE. THE LETTERS TO THE VILLAGE MAYOR, AND HOUSE #44 , AND HAVE RECEIVED NO REPLY. I HAVE COME ACROSS A FEW OTHER MISKOWICZ'S JAKOB, ANDRAS, VALENT, ADAM, FROM JURGOW , WHICH I BELIEVE ARE BROTHERS OF MY GRANDMOTHER. I AM FINDING BITS AND PIECES OF INFORMATION ON THE ELLIS ISLAND MANIFEST. ALL CONTACT WAS LOST AFTER THE WAR. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE NEXT STEP WILL BE. IT WAS VERY LONG AGO, AND I'M SURE THERE ARE FEW WHO REMEMBER. I AM SURE IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE FOR SOME TO RESPOND TO A STRANGER ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THERE FAMILY. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

No I have not stopped. I did hire a genealogist, who help expand my tree. Other surnames from Jurgow are Chovanecz, Tiber, Csongva, Silany, Vojtas, Pavlyak, Marczisak. So I have more avenues to search. I still do not know if any family still present. Thanks.

Those names are common Jurgow's names. Spelling used her is "Hungarian". What means they are from documents written in time once Jurgow was part of Austria-Hungary empire. I will send you Polish and Slovak spelling to your email.

Are these families relatives to you?

I am a Marczisák, from Hungary, but as far as the family legend our ansister came from Poland.
